Plain Catgut is a sterile, absorbable, monofilament surgical suture composed of purified collagen derived from the serosal layer of bovine intestines or the submucosal fibrous layer of ovine intestines. Naturally yellow in color, Plain Catgut sutures are available in sizes USP 7/0 to USP 4.
Sterilized using gamma radiation and packaged in a solution containing isopropanol, water, sodium benzoate, and diethylaminoethanol. Shelf life: 5 years.
