Our silk sutures are sterile, non-absorbable, braided sutures made from natural silk protein (fibroin), derived from the Bombyx mori silkworm of the Bombycidae family. The silk is carefully processed to remove natural sericin, then spun, braided, and silicone-coated for a smooth surface and enhanced tensile strength. Available in USP sizes 8/0 to 4.

Key Features

  • Excellent handling and knot security

  • High tensile strength for dependable performance

  • Smooth, flexible braided structure for optimal tissue passage

  • Silicone-coated for reduced friction and ease of use

  • Sterilized with Ethylene Oxide

Clinical Indications
Silk sutures are suitable for use in:

  • General surgery

  • Soft tissue approximation and ligation

  • Ophthalmic procedures

  • Cardiovascular and neurological surgeries

Note: As silk sutures gradually lose tensile strength over time, they are not recommended for procedures requiring long-term support.
